On August 27, 2018, the fourth edition of the Asian Voter Stakeholder Forum was organized in Sri Lanka's capital, Colombo. The aim of this forum is to discuss the elections and democracy in the region. This two-day conference was held for the first time in South Asia. It was organized by the Sri Lanka Election Commission and Asian Free Election Network (ANFREL). In this forum, platforms are provided to the Election Commission of Asia, Election Supervisors and other NGOs to discuss the elections. More than 250 delegates from 45 countries participated in this forum. India's Chief Election Commissioner Ashwani Kumar took part in this forum on behalf of India.

On August 28, the Government of India signed the MoU for construction of Lakhwar Multipurpose Project in Uttarakhand with 6 Upper Yamuna basin states. These 6 states are Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi. In Lakhwar project, a 204 meter high concrete dam will be constructed on Yamuna river in Lohari village in Dehradun district of Uttarakhand. The storage capacity of this dam will be 330.66 million cubic meters. This will bring 78.83 million cubic meter of water for drinking water, home use and industrial use for 6 basin states. With this help, 33,780 hectares of land will be provided irrigation facility and it will also be produced with 300 MW power. The total cost of this project will be Rs. 3966.51 crore. Out of the total cost, 1388.28 crores will be made by Uttarakhand government. Uttarakhand will get all the benefits of the energy generated when the project is completed. This project will be implemented by Uttarakhand Water Electricity Corporation Limited.

28 अगस्त को भारत सरकार ने 6 अपर यमुना बेसिन राज्यों के साथ उत्तराखंड में लखवर बहुउद्देशीय प्रोजेक्ट निर्माण के लिए MoU पर हस्ताक्षर किये। यह 6 राज्य उत्तराखंड, हिमाचल प्रदेश, उत्तर प्रदेश, राजस्थान, हरियाणा और दिल्ली हैं। लखवर प्रोजेक्ट में उत्तराखंड के देहरादून जिले में लोहारी गाँव में यमुना नदी पर 204 मीटर ऊँचे कंक्रीट बाँध का निर्माण किया जायेगा। इस बाँध की भण्डारण क्षमता 330.66 मिलियन क्यूबिक मीटर होगी। इससे 6 बेसिन राज्यों को पीने के लिए, घरेलु उपयोग तथा औद्योगिक उपयोग के लिए 78.83 मिलियन क्यूबिक मीटर जल प्राप्त होगा। इसकी सहायता से 33,780 हेक्टेयर भूमि को सिंचाई सुविधा प्राप्त हो सकेगी और इसे साथ 300 मेगावाट उर्जा का उत्पादन भी किया जाएगा। इस परियोजना की कुल लागत 3966.51 करोड़ रुपये आएगी। कुल लागत में से 1388.28 करोड़ रुपये का वाहन उत्तराखंड सरकार द्वारा किया जायेगा। प्रोजेक्ट पूरा होने पर उत्पादित की जाने वाली उर्जा का समस्त लाभ उत्तराखंड को ही मिलेगा। इस प्रोजेक्ट का क्रियान्वयन उत्तराखंड जल विद्युत् निगम लिमिटेड द्वारा किया जायेगा।
