Armed Forces AGNIPATH Scheme 2022

The government launched the ‘Agnipath‘ recruitment scheme for the armed forces. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) and the Union Cabinet approved the proposal for the ‘Agnipath‘ scheme for the armed forces earlier in the day.

What is Agnipath Scheme?

Approved by the Cabinet Committee on Security, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Agnipath scheme is a transformational recruitment scheme by the Government of India to recruit soldiers, sailors and airmen in the Armed Forces – Firefighters as Army, Navy and Air Force respectively. This scheme is a step towards building an Atmanirbhar Bharat.

This is a major defense policy reform initiated by the government to usher in a new era in the HR policy of the three Services. The policy, which comes into force with immediate effect, will govern enrollment for all three services thereafter.

Who is Agniveer?

The candidates who are recruited through the Agnipath scheme in the Armed Forces will be referred to as Agnipath. They will be given a unique opportunity to serve their country India and contribute in nation building. Government of India has announced to recruit 46,000 firefighters in the armed forces through Agnipath scheme

Agniveer Clerk / Store Keeper (Technical) All Arms 10+2 Intermediate in Any Stream with Minimum 60% Marks Aggregate and Minimum 50% Marks in Each Subject.
Agniveer Tradesman 10th Pass Class 10th High School Exam Passed in Any Recognized Board in India Minimum 33% in Each Subject.

Indian Army AGNIPATH Scheme 2022 Application Fee

Selection Process :

The Agnipath scheme will have an all-India merit-based recruitment process which will include a centralized transparent screening assessment based on merit and performance in service. The Agniveers will be recruited into the Armed Forces for a period of 4 years.

Training and Commissioning:

During the 4 years posting, Agniveer will receive his training from best institutes to enhance his aptitude and skills. During the service period, Agniveers will acquire various military skills. They will also be given a skill-gaining certificate and credit for their higher education and employment purposes.

On completion of 4 years of service, the scheme will have two scenarios:

(i) Firefighters will return to the society for the purpose of contributing to the process of nation building. Under the scheme, they will get lucrative re-employment opportunities when they return to the society.

OR

(ii) The firefighters should be given an opportunity to apply for permanent commission in the Armed Forces. Based on their performance in 4 years of service, the scheme envisages enrolling 25 per cent of the firefighters in the regular cadre of the Armed Forces. Note: Firefighters selected to serve in the regular cadre in the Armed Forces will be required to serve for at least 15 years further.

Agnipath Scheme: Salary, Allowances and Benefits to Fire Victims

On joining the armed forces through the Agnipath scheme, Agnipath will receive an attractive monthly financial package as well as risk and hardship allowances applicable across all three forces.

Monthly package

1st year – Rs.30,000/-

Upgradation up to Rs.40,000/- in 4th year

Allowance

Risk and hardship, ration, traveling allowance, dress as applicable

‘Seva Nidhi’ Package

On completion of 4 years of service, a lump sum ‘Seva Nidhi’ package of Rs 11.71 lakh will be given to the Agniveers, which will include their interest earned and contribution equal to the accumulated amount of contribution received from Government of India. His contribution along with interest as mentioned below:

Death Compensation

(i) Non-contributory life insurance cover of Rs.48 lakh

(ii) Additional ex-gratia of Rs.44 lakh on death due to service

(iii) payment for the unserved portion for 4 years including the ‘Service Fund’ component

Disability Compensation

(i) Compensation on the basis of percentage disability as determined by the Medical Officers

(ii) A lump sum ex-gratia of Rs 44/25/15 lakh for 100%/75 percent/50 percent disability respectively.
