About Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan:

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is a system of central government schools in India established under the aegis of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). This includes 1,199 schools in India (as of 1 November 2018) and three abroad. It is one of the world’s largest chains of schools.

Eligibility criteria for KVS admission:

The child should be 5 years of age on 31 March in the academic year, in which admission for class 1 is sought (a child born on 1 April should also be considered.)

The minimum and maximum age limits for admission to Kendriya Vidyalayas in various schools are given below: (Children born on 1 April should also be considered)

Note: The maximum age limit can be relaxed by two years in case of Differently abled children by the Principal.

There is no age limit for admission to class XI, provided the student is seeking admission to pass class X examination. Similarly, there will be no upper and lower age limit for admission to class XII, provided there is no break in the continuous study of the student after passing class XI.

Reservation in admission

  • Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Category - 15% seats for Scheduled Castes and 7.5% seats for Scheduled Tribes will be reserved for all new admissions in all Kendriya Vidyalayas.
  • According to different categories - 3% of the total seats available for new admission will be horizontally reserved for children with disabilities as per the provisions of the RTE Act, 2009, in combination with persons with disabilities (equal opportunity, protection of rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995.

Who can apply for KVS admission 2021?

Opportunity for entry into KV given in first phase for central government employee, followed by state government employee, and final for private employees.

KV seats are divided into five categories:

  • The first priority is given to the staff ward of the central government.
  • The second priority is for the child of the army and ex-army.
  • The third selection is for the government. Employees.
  • Fourth for single girl child quota.
  • Fifth for private or self-employed personnel.

New Update- From this year NSG and Assam Rifles have been included under the purview of admission of the ward of the army and paramilitary forces.

Similarly, under special provision for admission, KVS has now included the wards of Autonomous Bodies/PSUs/IHL for recommendation from VMC.

Admission for tenth and twelfth

Admission to class X and XII, besides KV students, will be entertained subject to availability of vacancies. Such admission for the tenth and twelfth grade shall be considered by the Deputy Commissioner of the concerned area, if and only if the average power in class X / XII is below 40.

This will further be subject to the following conditions:

  • The child has been in a CBSE-accredited school while studying.
  • For class X, the child should not score less than 55% of the total marks in class IX.
  • For admission in class XII, 55% marks in the class XI examination is compulsory.
  • The child should be eligible as per the KVS admission guidelines.
  • A combination of subjects chosen by the student is available at Central.

Application fee:

  • Children admitted under the 25% quota prescribed under the RTE Act 2009 will not be charged.
  • Expenditure on account of NCERT text books, note books, stationery, uniforms and transport will be reimbursed on production of appropriate bill in respect of 25% children admitted under RTE provisions subject to prescribed ceiling and availability of funds.
  • Once the children are admitted to class I under the RTE Act, they are given exemption or concessions up to class VIII in the same KV or any other KV. Transfer on transfer as per RTE Act.
  • Address proof of parents must be presented at the time of registration.
  • Employees who have the facility of fee reimbursement in their departments cannot claim RTE concessions.

Entry method:

In class-I:

Entrance test for class I will not be conducted.

In class second to eighth

The entrance examination cannot be conducted for admission in classes II to VIII and admission may be given on the basis of preference category system (case 1 to 5 or 6 as of May 5). If the number of application seats exceeds, the lottery system will be included in each category, including single girl child quota (class VI onwards).

In class IX

For admission to class IX, an entrance examination will be conducted and a merit list will be prepared separately for each category. Admission will be given in sequence of preference categories in order of merit.

Class xi

For KV students, admission in class XI in various disciplines Science, Commerce, Humanities will be on the basis of total marks in class X examinations.

Note: - If the seats in the eleventh grade remain vacant even after granting admission to the children of KV / neighboring KV, then non-KV children can be given admission on the same criteria in sequence of priority categories.

How to register for KVS admission 2021 class 1?

Students, parents and wards who wish to enter class 1, must follow the procedure given below for online registration-

  • Go to the official website ie https://www.kvsangathan.nic.in/. Applicants can also directly visit the KVS admission portal for class 1. The link mentioned above.
  • KVS Admission Link - Now, now on the homepage, click on the KVS online entry portal link scroll to the top of the page.
  • Click on the Register tab - Now, applicants will be redirected to a new page. Click on the “Register” tab on this entry portal as shown in the figure.
  • Proceed to read the instructions - Now, read the important instructions carefully in both English and Hindi languages. After going through all the instructions, mark the announcement box and click the proceed button.
  • Fill the details - Now, the registration page will appear. Enter all the details in the space provided and click on the “Register” button.
  • Verify OTP - Now, enter OTP and verify it.
  • Registration is complete - Finally the registration process is complete. Protect login ID for further login. Click on the “Print” tab and take a printout of the registration details.

How to fill KVS admission form online 2021?

  • Open the KVS login portal and click on the “Login Tab”
  • The login page opens. On this page, enter the login code, child’s DOB, mobile number. And captcha code. Click “Login Tab” and proceed.
  • The application form will open. Start filling in the details asked in the form.
  • Fill in the parent details and click “Next”
  • Fill in the option of schools. The option can be filled for three KV only. After entering the details click on the “Next” button.
  • Upload the required documents.
  • After uploading the document, click on the preview button. Crosscheck all the details and submit the application form.
  • Verify OTP
  • The application will be submitted successfully. Click on the “Print” tab and take a printout of the application for future references.

  • There is no upper and lower age limit for admission into class XI.

  • Science Stream- Students must have obtained at least 60% marks aggregate in all the subjects.
  • Commerce Stream- Students must have obtained a minimum of 55% marks aggregate in all the subjects.

Generally, KVS issues online applications for those seeking admission in Kendriya Vidyalaya in the month of February. Any person can fill the form and submit it. After completion of form submission, interview, and fee payment, the principals of each KV school will display the selected student for their school in class I.

Will central / state government employee grandchildren get preference?

Yes, preference will be given to the children / grandchildren of Central / State Government employees.

Is the application process the same for all classes from 1st to 11th grade in Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country?
